Two-Edged Sword

Psalm 149: 1-9

Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.

Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;

To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;

To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.

Our job is to praise our creator, to serve and worship Him that is our only job. The reason we were created. So many in the world and the church specifically have added so many other requirements or additions. When we worship and praise God, He will pour His Spirit out. That Spirit is what speaks to our heart what convicts our heart and sanctifies. The Spirit of God is what reveals the scriptures to us. You hear so often that Christians are intolerant and judgmental, and the Bible says we shouldn’t judge. Well, the Bible does say that, lest ye be judge but it also says if ye judge, judge righteously. On the outside looking in this may sound contradictory, but God does not contradict Himself. The scriptures are revealed through the Holy Spirit and both of these verses can be revealed through Psalms 149:6-9 The two-edged sword in our hands is the word of God revealed in Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The word of God is what does the judging we as followers of Christ are to praise God and allow God to speak to us through His word revealed through His Spirit and the word of God will Judge righteously! What this word says is right is right and what it says is wrong is wrong! There is no justification outside of the blood of Christ and our job is to Praise and worship and let God be the one who judges and reveals through His word. We just so happen to be the ones who carry that sword and share it with others. Not our opinions but the Holy Word of God! So today I encourage you to get your mind off of everyone and everything else and praise and worship your creator your savior and allow His spirit to inhabit your praise and work through your life. Those loved ones you’ve been praying for the Spirit will use you and work through you to reveal His word to them through love and righteous judgment that only comes from above!
